One of the first big-budget disaster films turns 100 years old this year. The dam-failure in Johnstown Pennsylvania was the biggest and deadliest man-made disaster to affect America by 1926. This movie takes liberties with the back-story, but establishes the pattern for films to come. George O'Brien is a dam engineer, and Janet Gaynor is the young girl with a crush on him. The exciting finale uses state-of-the-art special effects to show the magnitude of the destruction. Accompanied by Rodney Sauer leading the Cleveland Photoplayers in an authentic compied score based on the original cue sheet.
