Beau Geste (1926)

Chautauqua Auditorium, 100 Morning Glory Drive, Boulder, Colorado

This powerful story of the French Foreign Legion turns 100 this year. In 1994, the Mont Alto Motion Pictore Orchestra scored their first silent film at the Chautauqua Auditorium, running a battered 16mm print of Beau Geste, starring Ronald Colman as one of three English brothers who join the French Foreign Legion to prevent a family scandal. Last year, a new restoration from archival material was made available for the first time, and this movie hasn't looked this good since its first release. Quentin Tarantino said it was the best movie he saw in 2025, describing it as "a f***ing masterwork." Accompanied by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra.
